Coming soon: yes – in your own card's Settings you'll be able to hide a person from your view only. It follows you to every device you sign in on, and it never changes the tree for anyone else. For example, Sally could hide her ex from her own view, while Tim still sees both his parents. In the meantime, an ex only shows when a child you share is on the view.
