Open their card, press Remove / Fix this person and choose the option saying they shouldn't be in the tree at all. Time to prune a twig? We'll ask what happened and whether their own family goes with them, because a partner or child may still belong on the tree. They're kept safe for 60 days in the Drawer, just in case, and Put back returns them with all their links. For a child, see the separate question about a child who shouldn't be on the tree.

Person page → Edit (Safe edit on) → This person box → Remove / Fix this person
Only people with the "Add people" and "Remove" ticks, with Safe edit on.
Drawer (third row of the top bar, far right) → Deleted – kept safe for 60 days → Put back
